Replacement Killers, The

When people need to disappear, they come to see Meg. When they're about to go, they never see John coming. Hired assassin John Lee (Chow Yun-Fat) is asked by Chinatown crime boss Terence Wei (Kenneth Tsang) to murder the young son of policeman Stan Zedkov (Michael Rooker). Lee has the boy in his sights, but his conscience gets the better of him, and he spares the child's life. Afraid that Wei will take revenge on his family in China, Lee seeks out expert forger Meg Coburn (Mira Sorvino) to obtain the passport he needs to get out of the country, but a band of replacement killers is soon on his trail. Review of The Replacement Killers by Peter Walkden John Lee (Yun-Fat Chow) is a hitman and hired by a drug lord to murder an unknown man. During the assassination, John hesitates and ends walks away from completing the kill. His reasons for not completing the job that he was hired to do is unknown. But with the hit incomplete, John is now being hunted by many Replacement Killers. To escape the bounty that has been placed upon his head, John needs to escape from China and is recommends he seeks out the assistance of Meg Coburn (Mira Sorvino) who can create fake passports and fake documents. Soon both John and Meg are on the run, fighting for survival. If you ever want to witness what a fun action film was like in the 90s, The Replacement Killers is a pure example. Slow-motion shooting, calm faces while firing bullets from a gun and my favourite, slow-motion head-turning (sometimes with waving hair too). The action here is rather enjoyable. As for performances, both leading actors Chow Yun-Fat & Mira Sorvino work well together on screen. Supporting actors Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo were also pleasing to see in this action film. Overall, The Replacement Killers is a fun guilty pleasure film from the 90s. I enjoyed the film's basic plot, and if you're a sucker for brainless like me, then this film should certainly be added to your watchlist. Peter has written this movie review for Sanity.
